GreenTeam of San Jose collects garbage and recycling carts in the western and central parts of San Jose with trucks powered by compressed natural gas. These trucks are powered by a cleaner burning alternative fuel made entirely in the U.S., and provide our community with cleaner air. The trucks also have a larger collection capacity to reduce the amount of trips to the landfill and recycling center for unloading. The mileage and emissions are reduced in comparison to the split body trucks.
The first two large item collections per year will be at no extra charge. To learn more visit http://www.sjenvironment.org/largeitems
Refrigerators, furniture, and other large items may be collected at the curb. To schedule an appointment for your next collection day, please contact Customer Service at 408-282-4400.
For extra garbage that cannot fit in your garbage cart, you may purchase extra garbage bag stickers. Please click on Extra Garbage Stickers for more information on cost, set out information, and locations where you can purchase garbage bag stickers.

Composting is nature's way of recycling. It is a satisfying way to turn fruit, vegetable and yard trimmings into a dark, crumbly, sweet smelling soil conditioner. Composting is easy, it's smart, and it’s recycling.
