Single Family Residents: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Trucks

GreenTeam of San Jose collects garbage and recycling carts in the western and central parts of San Jose with trucks powered by compressed natural gas. These trucks are powered by a cleaner burning alternative fuel made entirely in the U.S., and provide our community with cleaner air. The trucks also have a larger collection capacity to reduce the amount of trips to the landfill and recycling center for unloading. Composting is nature's way of recycling. It is a satisfying way to turn fruit, vegetable and yard trimmings into a dark, crumbly, sweet smelling soil conditioner. Composting is easy, it's smart, and it’s recycling.

Composting:

  • Saves you money by lowering garbage bills and replacing store-bought soil conditioners.
  • Helps garden and house plants by improving the fertility and health of your soil.
  • Saves water by helping the soil hold moisture and reducing water runoff.
  • Benefits the environment by recycling valuable organic resources and extending the life of our landfills.
